About the Game

What is Ludo on Naija Arena?

Ludo is a 2-player dice strategy game played on a cross-shaped board. Each player races their tokens around the perimeter and into their home stretch. Roll two dice, choose how to apply them, and capture opponents along the way.

Our version features the TakeAway rule — when you capture an opponent's token, YOUR token also goes straight to finished. This makes captures the most powerful move in the game, completely changing the strategy from traditional Ludo.

Played with real Naira stakes — ₦500 to ₦5,000 per game. Winner takes 95% of the combined pot. Two modes: Fast (4 tokens) for quick games and Classic (8 tokens) for deeper strategy.

Fundamentals

4 Core Rules

Our Ludo has unique rules that make every game intense. Master these and you'll dominate.

casino

Two Dice, Three Choices

Roll two D6 dice each turn. Use them individually on different tokens, or combine them on a single token. Strategic dice allocation is the core of Ludo mastery.

bolt

TakeAway Captures

Land on an opponent's token and BOTH pieces leave the board — theirs goes back to the yard, yours goes straight to finished. One capture can swing the entire game.

rule

Must-Use-Both Rule

If a legal move exists that uses both dice, you must use both. You can't waste a die to avoid a bad position. Every roll demands careful planning.

replay

Double Sixes = Extra Turn

Roll double sixes and you get an extra turn after moving. Chain multiple double rolls for devastating runs — but each one is a gamble with the dice.

How to Play Ludo

Simple to learn, hard to master. Here's everything you need to start winning.

casino

Roll Two Dice

Each turn you roll two D6 dice. Apply them individually to different tokens, or combine them on one token. A single die showing 6 lets you bring a token out of the yard.

2
route

Move Your Tokens

Tokens travel clockwise around the perimeter (52 squares) then up your color's home stretch (5 squares) to the finish. You must use both dice if possible.

3
bolt

Capture Opponents

Land on an opponent's token to capture it — they go back to the yard. With TakeAway, your capturing token also goes straight to finished. Two birds, one move.

4

Reach Home

Navigate your tokens through the home stretch to the centre. You need the exact dice to land on the finish square — no overshooting. Plan ahead.

5

Chain Double Sixes

Roll double sixes and get an extra turn after moving. Use it to bring out tokens, set up captures, or rush the home stretch. Doubles don't stack endlessly though.

Win & Cash Out

First to finish all tokens wins. In Fast mode that's 4 tokens, in Classic it's 8. Winner takes 95% of the combined stakes. Winnings hit your wallet instantly.

TakeAway Rule — What Makes Our Ludo Different

The biggest change from the Ludo you grew up playing. Captures are game-changing.

emoji_eventsCapture = Double Win

Land on an opponent and your token also finishes. One move eliminates them AND scores for you.

restart_altYard Comeback

A captured token goes back to the yard needing a 6 to re-enter. Losing a token near home is devastating.

gps_fixedHunt > Run

It's often better to chase a capture than to advance safely. One successful hunt is worth 10 squares of running.

6 Strategies to Win More

Dice add variance, but these strategies tilt the odds in your favour game after game.

login

Enter Early, Enter Often

Every token in the yard is dead weight. Use every 6 to bring tokens onto the board. More active tokens means more move options and more capture threats.

open_with

Spread Your Tokens

Don't rush one token to the finish. Spread across the board so every dice roll has a useful target. A single advanced token with 3 in the yard is a losing position.

gps_fixed

Hunt for Captures

With the TakeAway rule, every capture finishes YOUR token too. A capture is worth more than naturally running a token home. Actively seek capture opportunities.

merge

Use Combined Dice Wisely

Combining both dice on one token covers more ground but wastes flexibility. Save combined moves for entering the home stretch or setting up captures — not for routine advances.

security

Block the Home Stretch

Position tokens near your opponent's home stretch entrance. Even if you can't capture there, the threat forces them to waste dice avoiding you. Board control wins games.

timer

Time Your Finishes

Getting a token to the exact home square requires the right dice. Plan your home stretch entries so tokens don't get stuck needing an unlikely roll to finish.

FAQ

Ludo Questions Answered

Ludo on Naija Game Arena is a 2-player game. Each player controls two colors (2 sets of 4 tokens in Classic mode, or 1 set of 4 tokens in Fast mode). This keeps games competitive and fast-paced — no waiting for 3 other players to move.

Yes. Both players stake real Naira (₦500 to ₦5,000) before the game starts. The winner takes 95% of the combined pot. At ₦5,000 each, the winner takes ₦9,500. Withdrawals go directly to your Nigerian bank account in under 5 minutes.

Fast mode games take about 8–15 minutes. Classic mode (8 tokens per player) takes 15–25 minutes. Each player has 30 seconds per turn, so games keep moving. If a player times out 3 consecutive turns, they forfeit.

When you capture an opponent's token by landing on it, your capturing token ALSO leaves the board and goes straight to finished. This makes captures extremely valuable — you eliminate an opponent AND finish one of your own tokens in a single move.

You roll two D6 dice each turn. You can apply each die to a different token, or combine both dice on one token. A 6 is required to bring a token out of the yard (combined dice totalling 6 don't count — only a single die showing 6). Rolling double sixes gives you an extra turn.

Dice add variance, but strategy matters enormously. Which token to move, when to enter from yard, whether to combine dice, when to hunt for captures — these decisions separate consistent winners from losers. Over many games, the better strategist wins more.

Fast mode gives each player 1 color (4 tokens). Classic mode gives each player 2 colors (8 tokens total). Fast mode is quicker and simpler — great for short sessions. Classic mode has deeper strategy with more tokens to manage.

Disconnected players have 30 seconds to reconnect. If they don't return, they forfeit the game and their stake. If a player times out 3 consecutive turns (30 seconds each), the game is also forfeited. This ensures games always reach a conclusion.
