About the Game

What is Whot!?

Whot! is Nigeria's most beloved card game — a fast-paced, strategy-rich game with a special 54-card deck. Five shapes: Star, Circle, Cross, Triangle, and Square, each numbered 1-14, plus five WHOT! wildcards (numbered 20).

The goal: be the first to play all your cards. Match either the shape or number of the top discard. Special power cards let you skip opponents, force draws, chain combos, or change the shape entirely.

Played at family gatherings and barber shops across Nigeria for decades — now online with real Naira stakes on Naija Game Arena.

6 Strategies to Win More

Count the WHOT! Cards

Track how many of the 5 WHOT! cards have been played. If you hold 2 and 3 are gone, you have huge power.

Hold Your Pick-Twos

Don't play Pick Two early. Save them for when your opponent is close to finishing.

Stack Before You Strike

Use Hold On (1) to chain combos: play a 1, keep your turn, then drop a Suspension or Pick Two.

Watch the Discard Pile

Track what shapes your opponent avoids. If they never play Circles, they probably don't have any.

Don't Rush to Empty

Going to 1 card triggers 'Last Card!' — time it so your last card is a WHOT! or matching shape.

Force Shape Changes

Use WHOT! to call your strongest suit. Force the opponent into your territory.
